In brief

Digbeth Bus Garage is a wholesale six-phase (6 acres) regeneration project comprising two parcels of land on either side of Adderley Street. Redevelopment ultimately allows National Express to move to new, purpose-built facilities as they move towards an all-electric fleet over the next 10 years.

Up to 2,100 sustainable new homes are earmarked alongside PBSA and potential co-living spaces – all set around an integrated tram network that will run along Adderley Street.

Phase 1 of this regeneration has been approved – as noted below, with Phases 2-6 also approved in ‘outline’ form and is now subject to ‘Full Planning’ applications in the future.

USE: HUB Group's 'Metalworks' would see a part 7, part 15-storey tower built on the site of the Bus Garage.

Offering 213 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, Metalworks would also see roof gardens at first and seventh-floor level, with 14,800 SF of ground floor commercial – likely to feature a convenience food-store, retail, food, and beverage; offices; community/cultural uses; and/or leisure units.

To facilitate works, the partial demolition of the Bus Garage & the wall fronting onto Liverpool Street would need to take place, as well as full demolition of Pandora's. Large swathes of the existing wall are to be kept, arches intact, and integrated into Plot 1 and any future Plot 4 scheme – these would likely be used for commercial purposes.
